Trip Summary:
We left nice and early at 4;15am on Friday morning to beat the traffic and meet up with our visitors at the Polblue Campsite, Barrington Tops. Found a great spot set up camp and did the 3km hike around the Polblue Swamp and checked out the Firs which is a forest of pine trees planted back in the 1800s. After checking out the view at Dingo Gate we got some 4WDing in some fairly muddy tracks before dinner.

With more rain over night came more mud, and more fun taking on the ruts which looked like small water holes in some cases. Locked gate after locked gate was found and more rain fell but we still made the most of Saturday with as much driving in as we could do, checking out waterfalls and other camp sites. Now dubbed Barrington Locks we continued on using maps and GPS to try and find more tacks we could take on and explore this great place. With a little tip given to us by another fellow 4WDer looking for The Rock we found what we were all looking for via a Blue Tee-Shirt wrapped around a skinny tree off the main track. As this great land mark was not sign posted, it is easily missed by just driving straight passed it.
After pretty much spending most of our time in the clouds they finally cleared to allow us to see the eclipse of the moon and some stars and enjoy a great campfire.

We finished off the weekend by travelling home via Gloucester, filling up and having a beer at the Round About Hotel before heading home at 1pm. A great weekend despite the weather and the locked gates was had by all and looking forward to one day returning to see things in a different light and other regions of the great mountain range.
